Early Development
Born in Vancouver in 1980, Chen is of Chinese and one-eighth Portuguese descent. His father, Edward Chen, was active in the Hong Kong entertainment industry. During his formative years, Chen attended the Robert Cecil Palmer Secondary School in British Columbia and the Hong Kong International School. His linguistic training included learning Khmer for a film role and Japanese for early idol work, in addition to his native English and his recording languages, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Chen made his film debut in the 2000 production Gen-Y Cops. He subsequently appeared in notable titles including Infernal Affairs and Initial D. His efforts to reach international audiences included roles in the Japanese drama Under the Same Moon and the 2006 American film The Grudge 2. Although he was cast for a small role in The Dark Knight, the scale of his performance was adjusted following a 2008 scandal. He returned to the screen in the 2012 film Almost Perfect and the 2014 project Golden Chickensss.
Musical Evolution
Signing with Emperor Entertainment Group in 2000, Chen transitioned from pop music to hip-hop production. His 2004 album, Please Steal This Album, featured collaborations with MC Yan and Hanjin Chen. He later released the record Confusion and worked on the Cantonese hip-hop projects 3 Corners and 3 Corners II. Beyond his own discography, he contributed to the 2012 video game Sleeping Dogs, providing voice work for the character Jackie Ma.
Entrepreneurial Ventures
In 2003, Chen co-founded the clothing brand CLOT Inc. alongside partners Kevin Poon and Billy Ip.
