Early Career and Evolution
Born in Sissach in 1975, Konrad began his journey in the music industry by opening the House Café in Basel in 1995. His initial professional focus lay in rap music before he transitioned into the dance and electronic genres that would define his later work. By 1998, he released his debut project, The Pumpin' House Mix, and within three years, he achieved his first gold record certification for the album Houseworks 1. The release of the album Stop! in 2008 marked a thematic shift toward addressing social issues like juvenile violence, earning him a Swiss Music Award for Best National Dance Album the following year. His global profile expanded significantly with the 2011 single Welcome to St. Tropez, a collaboration with Russian rapper Timati and American singer Kalenna. This track, released via the German label Kontor Records, became a prominent hit throughout German-speaking regions. His 2012 single, Ma Chérie, achieved substantial commercial success, selling over 1 million units and securing him an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Swiss Act.
Business Ventures and Production
Beyond his creative output, Konrad has managed his own business entities, including Global Productions GmbH and Global Bookings. In 2016, he founded the lifestyle enterprise Konrad Lifestyle AG, which operates with a team of ten employees in Switzerland. He continues to manage his music label, Houseworks, while collaborating regularly with studio partner Mad Mark. Their joint productions have yielded multiple chart-topping albums, including 2013's Sky Is the Limit, which reached the top of the Swiss charts and achieved platinum status domestically and gold in Germany.
