Early Career and Music Breakthroughs
Simpson secured a recording contract with Atlantic Records in 2010, prompting his relocation to Los Angeles. His initial work included the 2010 single iYiYi and the EP 4 U. He engaged in extensive touring, including the Camplified 2010 Tour and his own Coast to Coast Mall Tour. His debut album, Paradise, arrived in 2012, followed by Surfers Paradise in 2013, which secured a top 10 spot on the Billboard 200.

He later formed the band Cody Simpson and the Tide, focusing on a fusion of rock, surf-rock, and blues. The group released the EP Wave One in 2017 before disbanding in 2019, leading Simpson to return to his solo recording career.
Performance and Competitive Swimming
Beyond music, Simpson performed the lead role of Dmitry in the Broadway musical Anastasia from 2018 to 2019. In 2019, he won the first season of The Masked Singer Australia while performing as the Robot. Simultaneously, he maintained a serious commitment to swimming, joining the Australian Swim Team in 2022 after qualifying for the Commonwealth Games. He concluded his competitive swimming career in June 2024.
