Playing Jennifer Parker in the 1985 motion picture Back to the Future established Claudia Wells as a recognized figure in American cinema. Born in Kuala Lumpur on July 5, 1966, she moved to the San Francisco Bay area as an infant before eventually relocating to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television and film acting.
Early Career and Education
Wells attended Marin Country Day School and the French-American Bilingual School during her youth. By the time she reached age fourteen, she had moved to Los Angeles, where she graduated from Beverly Hills High School. Her professional training included performing in ten operas between the ages of eight and twelve, followed by the start of her television acting career in the late 1970s.

In 1985, she secured the role of Jennifer Parker, the girlfriend of the character Marty McFly. Although a contractual obligation to an ABC pilot briefly forced her to exit the project, the subsequent restructuring of the production allowed her to return to the cast. That same year, she appeared in the anti-drug music video Stop the Madness. Her television work included a role in the 1986 television movie Babies Having Babies and a portrayal of Linda Barrett in the television series Fast Times.
Career Hiatus and Entrepreneurship
Following her mother's diagnosis with breast cancer, Wells stepped away from professional acting to focus on family obligations, which resulted in her declining to reprise the role of Jennifer Parker for the sequels to Back to the Future. In 1991, she founded a retail business, the Studio City clothing store Armani Wells, which she continues to manage. She remained largely absent from the screen until the release of the independent film Still Waters Burn in 2008, which had been filmed in 1996.
Return to Performance
Wells resumed her acting career in 2011 with an appearance in the science-fiction production Alien Armageddon. During that same year, she revisited her most famous character by providing the voice of Jennifer Parker for Back to the Future: The Game. In 2012, she announced her involvement in a horror project titled Room & Board.
