Charlie Kirk

American political activist (1993–2025)

The organization Turning Point USA began in 2012 when Charlie Kirk, then a high school graduate, partnered with political donor Bill Montgomery to mobilize conservative students on college campuses. Operating out of the United States, Kirk spent over a decade as a chief executive officer and activist, securing a prominent role within the American political landscape.

Early Development and Education

Born in 1993 in Arlington Heights, Kirk attended Wheeling High School from 2008 until 2012. During his teenage years, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and participated in Scouting America. After finishing high school, he briefly attended Harper College during 2013 and 2014 before focusing entirely on his political objectives. His early media involvement included writing for Breitbart News.

Turning Point USA Leadership

As the co-founder and chief executive officer of Turning Point USA from 2012 to 2025, Kirk managed the growth of a massive political network. The organization eventually expanded into related entities, including Turning Point Action. Kirk served as the public face of these groups, acting as a podcaster, presenter, and writer while overseeing thousands of campus chapters nationwide.

Advocacy and Public Influence

Kirk positioned himself as a political pundit and apologist, frequently engaging in broadcast journalism and public debate. His work aligned with the Council for National Policy and reflected his commitment to Evangelicalism. By 2018, he was recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30. His career concluded in 2025, a year in which he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Death and Legacy

On September 10, 2025, Kirk died at Timpanogos Regional Hospital following an attack during a public event. His death prompted significant international attention. Throughout his professional life, his influence was marked by his tenure at Turning Point Action and his various roles in political commentary.
