Carson Huey-You: Read chapter books at 2, started TCU at 11

Physics prodigy who entered college at 11, earned a bachelor's at 14, and a Ph.D. in physics at 21.

A bachelor's degree in physics was awarded to Carson Huey-You on May 13, 2017, when he was just 14 years old. This achievement established him as the youngest person to graduate from college in Texas. He continued his academic progression through Texas Christian University, eventually securing a doctorate at age 21 on May 13, 2024.

Academic Foundation

Born in August 2002 to Claretta Kimp and Andre Huey-You, Carson displayed advanced intellectual capabilities early in his childhood. By age two, he was reading chapter books, and he began exploring calculus at age three. His mother, who holds a background in early education, homeschooled him until he was five years old. He later attended the Accommodated Learning Academy in Grapevine, Texas, where he graduated high school as co-valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA at age 10 after scoring 1770 on the SAT.

Higher Education at Texas Christian University

Upon enrolling at Texas Christian University, Huey-You pursued a rigorous curriculum, eventually earning his bachelor's degree in physics with minors in mathematics and Mandarin Chinese. Throughout his undergraduate studies, he commuted between his home and the university campus. His academic momentum continued after his initial graduation; he earned a master's degree in physics in late 2019 at age 17 before completing his doctoral studies in 2024.

Media and Extracurricular Interests

Beyond the classroom, Huey-You appeared in media alongside his younger brother, Cannan. The siblings were featured in Parade to discuss physics principles regarding the solar eclipse of August 21, 2017. He also served as an advisor for two episodes of MythBusters Jr. in 2019. In his personal time, he enjoys playing chess, swimming, piano, and playing Minecraft. His interests extend to literature, such as The Westing Game, and he maintains an affinity for pot pie. He shares his home with a dog named Klaus, named in honor of physicist Klaus von Klitzing.
