Early Development and Canadian Idol

Born in Mission in 1985, Jepsen engaged in musical theatre during her secondary education, performing in productions such as Annie, Grease, and The Wiz. She pursued formal training at the Canadian College of Performing Arts following a recommendation from her drama teacher. In 2007, she competed in the fifth season of Canadian Idol, finishing in third place. This performance secured a management agreement with 604 Records.

Debut and Global Breakthrough

Jepsen released her debut album, Tug of War, in 2008, yielding two gold-certified singles in Canada. Her international profile rose significantly in 2011 with the release of "Call Me Maybe." The track topped the Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks and earned the designation of Song of the Summer. Her second album, Kiss, followed in 2012, featuring the successful collaboration "Good Time" with Owl City.

Expanding Into Theatre and Recorded Music

Beyond music, Jepsen made her Broadway debut in 2014, portraying the lead in Cinderella for a 12-week engagement. In 2022, she released The Loneliest Time, featuring a collaboration with Rufus Wainwright, followed by The Loveliest Time in 2023. She has received multiple industry honors, including Billboard Music Awards and Juno Awards.
