Bice Osei Kuffour, known professionally as Obour, transitioned from a multi-award-winning career in the Ghanaian music industry to executive roles in national public administration. Born in 1981, he established himself as a prominent figure in the hiplife genre before expanding his professional portfolio into politics, social activism, and corporate leadership within Ghana.
Early Development and Music Career
Raised in the Ashanti Region, Kuffour grew up in the Juaso-Ashanti Akyem chief's palace, where he began playing the Atumpan drum at age six. His formal education included time at the Mfantsipim School. He launched his music career with help from his cousin, J. Amano, and the Soul Records label. His debut project, Atentenben, secured three Ghana Music Awards in 2002, including Video of the Year. During his time at the University of Ghana, where he studied Sociology and Music, he released the successful album Dondo. His discography eventually expanded to include records such as Akademua, Obour.com, and the collaborative duet album with A. B. Crentsil, The Best of the Lifes.

Kuffour served as the president of the Musicians Union of Ghana, overseeing an umbrella organization for artists across all genres. His work extended into public service as a National Road Safety Ambassador and a Climate Change Ambassador for the British Council and the Forest Commission of Ghana. In 2008, President J. A. Kufuor recognized his contributions by awarding him the State Grand Medal Honour. He has also participated in international leadership programs, including the US International Visitor Leadership Programme, the Aspen Global Leadership Network, and the African Leadership Initiative of West Africa.
Political and Corporate Transition
In 2020, Kuffour pursued a parliamentary seat as a candidate for the NPP primaries in the Asante Akyem South constituency, though he did not win the nomination. He later contributed to the NPP 2020 campaign as secretary for the Ashanti Region Advertising Committee. On December 22, 2021, President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed him as the Acting Managing Director of Ghana Post. Additionally, he serves as the founder of the Christiana Addo Memorial Foundation, which focuses on education and youth empowerment in Asante Akyem.
