Early Life and Education
Born in 1958 in Chișinău, Moldavian SSR, he was raised in a Russian-speaking Jewish family. Upon arrival, he learned Hebrew and served in the Israel Defense Forces, attaining the rank of Rav-Turay. Before his legislative career, he participated in the Zionist Forum for Soviet Jewry and served as secretary for the Jerusalem branch of the Histadrut Ovdim Le'umit. He worked closely with Benjamin Netanyahu, eventually serving as Director-General of the Likud party and later as Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office between 1996 and 1997.
Governmental Tenure
Lieberman held numerous cabinet positions, including Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2012 and 2013 to 2015, and Minister of Defense from 2016 until his resignation in 2018.
