Antoine Griezmann

A move to Orlando City marked the latest chapter for Antoine Griezmann, a French forward whose professional trajectory spans seventeen years of Spanish football. Born in Mâcon in 1991, Griezmann evolved from a youth graduate into a record-breaking scorer, ultimately securing a place as one of the most statistically significant figures in the history of the French national team.

Early Development in Spain

After early rejections from French clubs due to concerns regarding his physical stature, Griezmann joined the youth academy of Real Sociedad in 2005. He bypassed the reserve squad, debuting for the first team during the 2009–10 campaign. His performance in the Segunda División helped the club earn promotion, and he signed a professional contract with a release clause of €30 million in April 2010.

Success with Atlético Madrid and Barcelona

Griezmann transferred to Atlético Madrid in 2014 for €30 million. During his tenure, he won the UEFA Europa League and was named the competition’s Player of the Season. In 2019, he moved to Barcelona for a fee of €120 million. He later returned to Atlético, where he became the club’s all-time top goalscorer in early 2024, finishing his final season with the team having reached 200 goals and 100 assists.

International Career

Griezmann represented France at the senior level beginning in 2014, earning 137 caps and scoring 44 goals before retiring in 2024. He was the top scorer and Player of the Tournament at UEFA Euro 2016. In 2018, he helped France win the FIFA World Cup, receiving the Bronze Ball and Silver Boot. He later played as an attacking midfielder in the 2022 World Cup final.
