Sobrinho assumed the role of executive chairman at Banco Valor Angola in 2013, an institution noted as the 13th-largest bank in Angola. He later transitioned away from these executive roles to dedicate his focus to diverse business interests. His tenure as chief executive of Banco Espírito Santo Angola, which concluded in October 2012, later became the subject of media scrutiny regarding the bank's lending practices.
