Prost entered Formula One with McLaren in 1980, scoring a point on his debut at the Argentine Grand Prix. A stint with Renault followed from 1981 to 1983, during which he achieved his maiden victory at the French Grand Prix. Despite finishing as championship runner-up in 1983, a dispute led to his departure. He returned to McLaren in 1984, where he narrowly missed the title to Niki Lauda before securing back-to-back championships in 1985 and 1986.
Rivalries and Championship Success
During his final seasons at McLaren, Prost engaged in a documented rivalry with teammate Ayrton Senna. The duo dominated the 1988 season, with Senna taking the title.
