During this tenure, he prioritized microfinance initiatives and led a major structural reorganization of the bank’s Asian operations in 2008 while based in Hong Kong and New York. His executive profile reached a new level when he became the president and CEO of Mastercard in 2010. During his eleven-year leadership, the company's market capitalization expanded significantly, growing from under $30 billion to more than $360 billion by the time he retired from the CEO role in December 2020.
