The product
Fortune describes the cookies precisely: all-natural, homemade, with no preservatives, sold through the company's website. That specification is a commercial position rather than a description of a recipe.
No preservatives is a constraint with consequences. It shortens shelf life, which limits how far a product can be shipped and how long it can sit in a warehouse, and it rules out most conventional distribution. A business built that way has to sell close to where it bakes, or sell direct and quickly — which is precisely what a website and a set of local corporate accounts allow.
The corporate clients
Macy's, Aetna and Citibank are the names Fortune lists, and they are the reason the entry is in a business magazine at all. A twelve-year-old selling cookies to neighbours is a familiar story. A twelve-year-old with named corporate accounts is operating in a different market entirely.
Corporate catering is a hard segment to enter. It requires invoicing, consistent fulfilment on a schedule, volume at short notice and a supplier that a procurement department is willing to approve. Those requirements are indifferent to the age of the person meeting them, which is what makes the client list the most informative fact in the record.
What the list was
Fortune's 18 Under 18 in 2016 gathered eighteen people under eighteen who, in the magazine's framing, were inventing products, building brands and making money while still at school. Nieves appeared alongside founders in childcare, drones, skincare, travel reviews and consumer packaging.
The magazine did not publish its selection criteria, and each entry runs to a couple of sentences. It should be read as an editorial selection rather than a ranking, and the entries as capsule descriptions of businesses that existed at that moment.
What the source does not say
The Fortune entry does not state where Nieves lives, what school he attended, when the company was founded, how it started, what it earned, or who else worked in it. His exact date of birth is not given either; the birth year in this record is inferred from his stated age of 12 in September 2016.
The widely circulated version of this story includes an origin anecdote, television appearances and a funding history. None of that appears in the source used here. Those claims may be documented elsewhere, but they are not documented by this record and are not asserted on this page.

Hacer la prueba de CI →Where Cory Nieves is now
No source used here reports anything about him after September 2016. Whether Mr. Cory's Cookies still trades, whether he still runs it, and what he has done since are not documented in this record.
He would be in his early twenties now. What the record firmly establishes is narrow and genuinely unusual: at twelve, a company selling a preservative-free product direct through its own website, with named corporate clients, and a listing in an American business magazine.
