The test behind the membership
The route in this case is documented, which is unusual in stories about very young Mensa members. Jadon sat the Cognitive Abilities Test, a standardised American assessment widely used by schools to identify pupils for gifted programmes, and scored in the 99th percentile on both its quantitative and non-verbal sections.
That result did two things at once. It qualified him for American Mensa, which admits scores at or above the 98th percentile on an approved test, and it qualified him for his own school's gifted programme. The second is the one that affects his week: Mensa is a society, while a gifted programme is a change to what he is actually taught.
Reading at two
The early markers reported are familiar in this category and were noticed young. He began reading at two and showed advanced mathematical ability early. By five he was assessed as functioning cognitively above the 99th percentile.
He is a first-grade pupil at Georgia Cyber Academy, a public online school, which is a setting that suits a child working ahead of his year group: the pace is set by the pupil rather than by the class. His younger brother is named Levi.
Two professors and a household of books
His parents are both academics in the same discipline. Leon Prieto teaches business management at Clayton State University and Simone Phipps-Prieto teaches it at Middle Georgia State University. Both are from Trinidad and Tobago.
Household context of this kind is routinely left out of prodigy stories, and it belongs in them. A home run by two university teachers is one where reading is constant, questions are answered at length and testing is understood rather than feared. None of that produces a 99th-percentile score by itself, and all of it makes such a score more likely to be noticed, pursued and acted on.
What he says he wants
His ambition is a doctor's, and his reason for it is seven words long. Jadon wants to be a paediatrician: “I want to help children,” he said.
His family's emphasis, reported alongside the score, is on character rather than percentile: his kindness, humility and desire to help others are what distinguish him, they say. His own description of himself is a short list, polite, intelligent, respectful and confident, which is the kind of answer a seven-year-old gives when asked to describe himself and has been raised to think about it.
Where Jadon Prieto is now
As of May 2026 he was seven, in the first grade at Georgia Cyber Academy, a member of American Mensa and of his school's gifted programme.
Nothing further is documented in the sources used here, and for a child of that age nothing further should be. There is no published IQ number, only percentile results on a named school test, which is a more meaningful way to report a young child's assessment. His date of birth is not published, and no detail about his home beyond the county is on the record.
