What Torrin Cuthill won

On the fifth series of The Voice Kids UK, broadcast in 2021, Cuthill was the last act standing. Wikipedia's series overview records him as the winner, Melanie C as the winning coach, and Leo Gandanzara, Savannah Lily Boak and Aishling Mae Bontoyan as the other finalists. Emma Willis presented, as she did every series of the show. The four chairs that year were filled by will.i.am, Melanie C, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones.

The programme sits inside one of television's largest formats. The Voice Kids is the junior branch of The Voice, created by the Dutch producer John de Mol Jr. and built out from The Voice of Holland. The British version began on ITV on 10 June 2017 and was aimed at singers aged 7 to 14. Melanie C's only series as a coach

Three coaches sat through all seven series of The Voice Kids UK: will.i.am, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones. The fourth chair rotated. Jessie J took it for series three, Paloma Faith for series four, Melanie C for series five, and Ronan Keating for series six and seven.

Melanie C therefore coached the show exactly once, and her single season ended with her act winning it. Cuthill is the only champion she can claim. The other winning coaches named in the overview are Pixie Lott, for series one, four and six; Danny Jones, for series three; and will.i.am, for series seven. The overview does not name a winning coach for series two.

What is known since, and what is not

After 2021 the record moves on without him. In August 2022 it was announced that The Voice UK and The Voice Kids would return to ITV in 2023. Series six went to Israella Chris, coached by Pixie Lott. Series seven, in summer 2023, went to the sibling act Shanice and Andrea Nyandoro, coached by will.i.am. On 29 July 2023 the show was reported to be going on hiatus to make room for another spin-off, a decision described as putting the children's format in jeopardy.

Nothing in the source used here states Cuthill's age, date of birth, home town, school, family or anything he has recorded since the final. The prize for his series is unstated too: the page sets out the winner's package for series one, three, four and six, from thirty thousand pounds and a trip to Disneyland Paris in 2017 to Universal Orlando via TUI Airways in 2022, but says nothing about series five. How rare the title is

Seven series produced seven winning acts, and no later one appears in the overview consulted here: the 2023 hiatus left the British show with a closed set of champions, and Cuthill holds one of them.
