Two routes out of a semi-final
Semi-final five of the 2010 series sent two acts to the final. The drummer Kieran Gaffney took the public vote outright with 49.2 per cent. McNally, on 21.0 per cent, was behind him and was then put through by the judges — the second and more contested route, decided by a panel rather than a phone line.
The distinction matters when reading the numbers. A judges' save says the panel wanted an act in the final; it does not say the country did. McNally's subsequent 3.0 per cent in the final is the country's answer to the same question, and it is the smallest share recorded among the ten finalists.
What a boy soprano is competing against
The series record does not call him a singer. It calls him a boy soprano, a designation that belongs to a voice before it changes, and that has organised church and cathedral music in Britain for centuries.
It is also, by definition, temporary. The classification a talent show applies to a 14-year-old describes a stage rather than a career, and nothing in the sources gathered for this page follows what happened to that voice afterwards. That absence is worth stating plainly, because it is the question most readers arrive with.
The series and the night
Series four ran on ITV from 17 April to 5 June 2010, presented by Ant and Dec and judged by Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan, with Louis Walsh standing in at the Birmingham auditions.
The final was won by the gymnastics troupe Spelbound with 36.9 per cent, ahead of the dance duo Twist and Pulse on 12.4 per cent and Gaffney on 9.6 per cent. The broadcast drew 13.50 million viewers — an audience McNally sang to once, at 14, and has no documented return to.
What is documented — and what is not
Firm: his age, his classification as a boy soprano, the semi-final, the route through it, the final placing and the percentages. All of it comes from the series results record.
Absent: a home town, a school or choir, a repertoire, an interview, a photograph credit, and anything at all after June 2010. His nationality is taken from the show rather than from a document. No source here states whether he continued to sing, and this page does not guess.

Пройти тест IQ →The shape of a talent-show record
Talent television produces two kinds of people: the few who become acts, and the many who remain results. A finalist's file is a row in a table — age, category, semi-final, percentage, placing — and it stays exactly that unless a record label or a newspaper revisits it.
That is why the most useful thing a page like this can do is separate the two columns honestly. The competition facts here are solid and checkable. The life around them is not documented in these sources, and saying so is more accurate than any reconstruction would be.
