That is the standard line of every topper interview, and in the case of JEE Advanced it also happens to be technically accurate: the paper is built to punish memorised procedure and to reward a candidate who can take an unfamiliar problem apart in front of the examiner.
Two teachers, one government school
Both of Reddy's parents teach mathematics at a government school in Rangareddy district. His elder brother was, at the time of the report, in the final year of a B.Tech at BITS Pilani. The household is neither wealthy nor educationally thin. It is a family in which mathematics is the family trade.
That matters for how the story is usually told. Indian topper coverage runs to two templates: the child of privation who overcomes it, and the product of the Kota coaching machine. Reddy fits neither. The advantage in his house was not money and was not an institute. It was two adults who could teach the subject at the kitchen table, and a sibling two years ahead on the same road.
Where Chidvilas is now
As of the January 2025 report, Reddy was pursuing a B.Tech in computer science, a detail India.com attributes to his LinkedIn profile. Computer science is what almost every top rank in India converts into: the branch sits at the head of the preference list every year, and the rank list functions as a queue for it.
