The run to the final
Dodds advanced from quarter-final four, in the results of 2 September 2020, and took one of the ten places in the season 15 final. She finished tenth in that final.
Tenth of ten is still the final, and the final of America's Got Talent is a room of ten acts drawn from tens of thousands of auditions. The distance between reaching it and winning it is large; the distance between reaching it and not reaching it is larger. Nine acts leave the final without a title every year, and the tenth place is the one that gets rewritten most often in the retelling.
The 2020 season
Season 15 ran from 26 May to 23 September 2020 on NBC, from Universal Studios Hollywood, hosted by Terry Crews. The panel was Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell, who appeared at the auditions and the Judge Cuts.
The pandemic changed the mechanics of the show: a virtual audience for the live rounds, an altered broadcast schedule and a Judge Cuts round compressed into a single episode. The golden buzzers that year went to Roberta Battaglia, the Voices of our City Choir, Brandon Leake, Cristina Rae and the W.A.F.F.L.E. Crew.
The final she was in
The season was won by Brandon Leake, a twenty-seven-year-old poet from Stockton, California, the first spoken-word artist to take the title. Broken Roots, a singing and guitar duo, were runners-up, and the singer Cristina Rae finished third.
The rest of the final was international and young: the aerialist Alan Silva, the singer Archie Williams, the Indian salsa duo BAD Salsa, the Italian acrobatic trio the Bello Sisters, the fourteen-year-old Kazakh singer Daneliya Tuleshova, Dodds herself at fifteen, and the eleven-year-old Canadian singer Roberta Battaglia. Three of the ten finalists were under sixteen. For a season with no audience in the building, the 2020 final was an unusually young and unusually international one.
What is documented — and what is not
Firm: her age of fifteen, her home city of Salt Lake City, her act as a singer and pianist, her advancement from quarter-final four on 2 September 2020, and her tenth place in the final.
Not documented in the sources gathered here: her songs, whether the material was her own, her family, her school, any release, and anything since September 2020. The research note for this record flagged that only a season results table was reachable, and no news source has been added to it.

Fazer o teste de QI →Why the 2020 season reads differently
Every talent show depends on a room. The applause tells the judges what the country thinks before the vote does, and performers calibrate against it in real time. Season 15 removed that entirely and replaced it with screens.
Reaching a final under those conditions, at fifteen, is a different test from reaching one in a full theatre, and it is the context that gives the placing its meaning. What cannot be said from this record is what came of it. The trail stops on 23 September 2020, and this page stops with it.
