The quarter-final
The season 19 quarter-finals were run as four shows of eleven acts each. The first took two acts through, the second and third took three, and the fourth took two. Journeyy performed sixth in the running order and was eliminated in the results show of 28 August 2024.
Those are unforgiving proportions: ten of forty-four advanced across the round. An act that reaches the quarter-finals has already been selected out of a national audition process, and then faces a public vote in which roughly three quarters of the field goes out. Nothing about the running order protects a performer at that stage, and nothing about being nine does either.
The season around it
Season 19 ran from 28 May to 24 September 2024 on NBC, from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, hosted by Terry Crews, with Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell judging.
The winner was Richard Goodall, a fifty-five-year-old singer, ahead of the dog act Roni Sagi and Rhythm. Journeyy did not receive a golden buzzer; the results tables record a straightforward route into the live rounds and an exit at the first live cut.
The act
Journeyy is listed as a singer and pianist, performing under a single stage name rather than a given name. The home town on the record is Jersey City, New Jersey.
A nine-year-old who both plays and sings is doing two jobs at once on a stage built for one, and the piano removes the option of moving. The sources gathered here describe the act in those two words and go no further: no song, no arrangement, no judges' comments. What survives of the performance, in the record used for this page, is a position in a running order and a date.
What is documented — and what is not
Firm: the age of nine, the home town of Jersey City, the act as singer and pianist, the quarter-final appearance with a sixth-place running order, and the elimination on 28 August 2024.
Not documented in the sources gathered here: a given name, a family, a school, a teacher, any release or recording, and anything since the end of the season. The research note for this record states that only a results table was reachable, and no news report has been added to it. There is no Wikipedia article under the name.

Fazer o teste de QI →Why a quarter-final exit still counts
The habit of retelling talent-show runs as either a win or nothing does the format a disservice. Season 19 was decided by public vote across a summer, and the acts that reached the live rounds had been chosen ahead of thousands of others to appear on a network stage.
The documented achievement here is exactly that, no larger and no smaller: at nine, Journeyy was one of forty-four acts playing live in the quarter-finals of the most-watched talent competition in the United States, and the vote on 28 August went the other way. What followed is not in the record, and nothing has been invented to fill the space.
