The Nash Equilibrium
Nash's 1950 doctoral dissertation — just 27 pages — established the concept of the Nash equilibrium: a stable state in any strategic interaction (game) where no player can improve their outcome by changing their strategy alone, given what all other players are doing. Other Mathematical Contributions

Remarkably, in the late 1980s, Nash experienced a gradual, largely self-directed recovery — one of the very few documented cases of natural remission from severe paranoid schizophrenia.
Legacy
Nash died in a taxi accident in 2015, returning from receiving the Abel Prize in Norway with his wife Alicia. His life was the subject of Sylvia Nasar's biography A Beautiful Mind (1998) and the Academy Award-winning film of the same name (2001), starring Russell Crowe.
