Zoltán Stieber

Hungarian association football player

Zoltán Stieber began his professional journey in the English football system before establishing a career across German leagues. Born on 16 October 1988 in Sárvár, Hungary, he transitioned through various youth sides before signing with Aston Villa in 2005. His development path included loans and eventual moves into the 2. Bundesliga, culminating in international representation for his home nation.

Early Career in England

Stieber played for Goldball '94 and Újpest prior to pursuing opportunities in England. After unsuccessful trials with Arsenal and Manchester United, he joined Aston Villa on a youth contract in May 2005. He made 30 appearances for the academy in his debut season and reached the FA Premier Academy League Play-offs Final in 2006. In 2007, he secured the Player of the Tournament award at the HKFC Philips Lighting International Soccer Sevens, leading the club to victory. During the 2007-08 season, he spent time on loan at League One side Yeovil Town, where he made 15 appearances and scored one goal.

Transition to Germany

In January 2009, Stieber signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with TuS Koblenz. He made his 2. Bundesliga debut on 30 January 2009 against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. Over his tenure, he scored five goals in seventeen appearances, though his 2009-10 season was frequently disrupted by injuries. In May 2010, he transferred to Alemannia Aachen. Under manager Peter Hyballa, Stieber excelled during the 2010-11 campaign, appearing in every league match and scoring ten goals to finish as the club's top scorer.

International Recognition

Stieber established himself as a regular international player for the Hungary national team. His performance and consistency at the club level earned him a place in the squad for the Euro 2016 finals. His career remains characterized by his ability to operate effectively as either a winger or an attacking midfielder within varying tactical structures.
