After completing his initial studies in Iran, Dodge pursued advanced education in statistics. He attended Oregon State University, where he was awarded his PhD in 1974. This period of study provided the foundation for his later work in mathematical statistics and regression analysis.

Dodge joined the faculty at the University of Neuchâtel in the 1980s. He served as a professor of statistics at the institution for many years, eventually attaining the status of professor emeritus by 2011. His professional output includes contributions to the theory of simulation, operational research, and the design of experiments.
Research and Publications
Throughout his career, Dodge authored over 60 scientific papers and 25 books. His writing covers technical subjects such as mathematical programming in statistics, adaptive regression, and the analysis of experiments featuring missing data. He also edited the Oxford Dictionary of Statistical Terms and compiled the Concise Encyclopedia of Statistics, both of which serve as reference materials in his field.
