The foundation of the Universe Investment Group, Vitaliy Antonov, built a multifaceted corporate portfolio that spans sectors from petroleum trading and food production to global high-tech ventures. Since initiating his business activities in 1992, the Stryi-born entrepreneur has transitioned from managing regional Ukrainian concerns to directing an expansive, internationally diversified investment enterprise headquartered in Switzerland.
Early Career and Education
Antonov attended Stryi School Number 4 between 1970 and 1978. His professional trajectory began in the outdoor and rescue sectors, reflecting his early interest in mountaineering. From 1988 to 1990, he directed a climbing club, followed by a tenure as head of the Lviv Regional Rescue Service of the Red Cross Society. He graduated from Ternopil National Economic University in 1988 with a specialization in Finance and Credit. Later, in 2011, he earned a PhD in Economics after defending a dissertation focused on foreign direct investment in Ukraine.

In 1992, Antonov launched his private business career. He established key entities including Concern Galnaftogaz, which operates the OKKO filling station network, and Concern Khlibprom for food production. His reach extended into finance and infrastructure through the Universalna Insurance Company, Universal Bank, and development firms such as Vash Dim and Technopark. These companies secured market leadership roles in Ukraine. International Investment and Regulatory Challenges
Relocating to Switzerland in 2012, Antonov shifted his focus toward an international investment portfolio. The current scope of his group includes high-tech projects in Singapore and the United States, mining in Australia, Canada, and South Africa, and real estate across several European nations. During his career, he faced domestic scrutiny; in August 2018, the Security Service of Ukraine investigated Concern Galnaftogaz over allegations related to financing separatist activities. However, the prosecutor of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine closed these proceedings on 25 October 2018 due to a lack of evidence.
