Two gold medals at the highest international level represent the career peak of Dutch field hockey midfielder Teun Floris de Nooijer. Born on 22 March 1976 in Egmond aan den Hoef, he established himself as a central figure in the Netherlands national squad, accumulating over four hundred international appearances for his country during a career spanning nearly two decades.
Early Development and Club Entry
De Nooijer began playing the sport at age nine alongside his brothers. By eleven, he joined HC Alkmaar, reaching the national under-16 team two years later. He debuted in the senior men's league for HC Alkmaar at age fifteen, subsequently transitioning to HC Bloemendaal to compete in the Dutch elite league. During his tenure, he adopted the number 14 jersey, a design choice later reflected in the Dita Giga #14 stick he helped develop.

His national team debut occurred on 4 June 1994 against New Zealand. As a midfielder, he consistently anchored the Dutch side, reaching his 350th cap on 4 April 2007 during a 7–3 victory over Belgium in Boxtel. He achieved his 400th cap on 15 August 2009 in a match against India. Beyond his team contributions, he secured the FIH World Hockey Player of the Year award in 2003, 2005, and 2006.
Professional Expansion and Coaching
De Nooijer expanded his professional reach by joining the Uttar Pradesh Wizards for the Hockey India League, where he became the highest-paid player. His international experience includes a brief stint with Harvestehuder THC in Germany following the 1998 World Cup. Transitioning from active play, he currently serves as the coach for the women's team at HC Bloemendaal.
