Tadeusz Pruszkowski began his formal artistic education in 1904 at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw, studying under Konrad Krzyżanowski before pursuing further development in Paris. His career spanned portrait painting, university lecturing, and administrative leadership, during a period of significant social and political upheaval within the Second Polish Republic and his native Congress Poland.
Artistic Development and Military Service
After his time in Paris, where he associated with the Royalist Club, Pruszkowski returned to Poland in 1911 to co-found the Young Art society. By 1914, he held his first solo exhibition at the Society for the Appreciation of Fine Arts. The following year, he enlisted in the Polish Legion, joining a Regiment of Uhlans commanded by Captain Władysław Belina-Prażmowski under the pseudonym 'Rdza'. During his deployment in Volhynia, he produced portraits of military personnel, which were later displayed at the Zachęta.
