Professional Origins and Practice
Erdem graduated from Ankara University with a degree in landscape architecture. In 1998, he co-founded the firm Erdem Architects alongside his brother, Günay Erdem. While his formal academic background is in landscape design, he developed his architectural practice through self-taught methods, allowing him to bridge the gap between site-specific environmental planning and structural architecture.

Additionally, he was awarded for his contributions to urban planning projects in Reykjavik, Iceland, and various Canadian cities such as Vancouver and Riverton.
Recognition and Awards
Erdem has been the recipient of multiple honors within Turkey and internationally. The Chamber of Landscape Architects in Turkey awarded him national prizes in 2009, 2010, and 2013. In 2010, he received the Turkish National Architecture Award for his work in the category of Presentation of Ideas. His commitment to sketching was formally acknowledged when his water-colored piece earned first prize at the 2013 Sketch Showdown Competition, organized by the Philadelphia Center for Architecture.
Notable Projects
The scope of his design work ranges from local urban renewals to large-scale international interventions. One prominent project involves a proposed wall design for the US-Mexico border. His early portfolio also includes the 2006 Teos Marina and Çeşme Marina projects.
