Professional Development and Education
Tchoban completed his early training at the Leningrad Art School between 1973 and 1980. He continued his formal architectural education at the Repin Institute of Arts from 1980 to 1986. His integration into the German architectural landscape included roles at the Hamburg office of Nietz Prasch Sigl starting in 1992, where he eventually became a partner in 1995.

Tchoban serves as a managing partner of TCHOBAN VOSS Architekten. The firm’s name evolved through several iterations including nps und partner Architekten BDA in 1996 and nps tchoban voss Architekten in 2003, before adopting its current identity in 2017. He is an active member of the Association of German Architects. His practice covers a broad spectrum of commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects across Germany, most notably within Berlin.
Artistic Contributions and Foundation
Beyond his built works, Tchoban maintains a commitment to the art of architectural drawing. He founded the Tchoban Foundation in 2009. This organization established the Museum for Architectural Drawing in Berlin in 2013, which serves as a center for his collection and exhibitions. His own drawings are held in international collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Albertina in Vienna, and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt. In 2020, he served as president of the American Society of Architectural Illustrators.
