In 2001, he achieved his personal record in the 5000-meter race with a time of 12:56.72, making him the world's best performer in that category for the year. Beyond the 5000-meter distance, his track career included notable personal bests: 3:37.59 in the 1500-meter in 1999, 7:32.23 in the 3000-meter in 2001, 26:50.20 in the 10,000-meter in 2002, and 8:20.67 in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 1998. He also claimed victory at the Cross Zornotza in 1999 and the Trofeo Alasport cross country meeting in 2002.
Transition to Marathon Racing
As of 2004, Limo shifted his career toward marathon racing. His debut at the 2007 Amsterdam Marathon resulted in a second-place finish and a personal best time of 2:06:45. He subsequently competed in several major events, placing fourth at the 2008 Rotterdam Marathon, tenth at the 2008 Chicago Marathon, and ninth at the 2009 Rotterdam Marathon.
