She self-released her first records, 11:11 in 2001 and Songs in 2002. Her profile expanded through support slots for the Strokes on their 2003–2004 tour, followed by a European tour with Kings of Leon. In 2004, she secured a contract with Sire Records, which oversaw the major label re-release of her third album, Soviet Kitsch.
Mainstream Recognition
The 2006 release of Begin to Hope established her commercial presence, peaking at number 20 on the US Billboard 200 and achieving Gold certification from the RIAA. The single Fidelity contributed significantly to this visibility, aided by strong performance on digital platforms and television airplay. Her subsequent studio efforts, Far and What We Saw from the Cheap Seats, continued this trajectory, with both albums debuting at number 3 on the Billboard 200.
