He began conducting formal research in 1968. By 1990, he attained the position of research director at the Center de Mathématiques of the École Polytechnique located in Palaiseau, Paris. In this capacity, he manages the geometry group and coordinates the Arthur Besse seminar concerning Riemannian geometry. Additionally, he provides instruction at the Institut des Mathematiques de Jussieu.

In 1971, he co-authored Le spectre d'une variété riemannienne with Marcel Berger and Edmond Mazet, published in the Lecture Notes in Mathematics series by Springer-Verlag. His research into hermitien geometry continued with papers such as La 1-forme de torsion d'une variété hermitienne compacte, released in 1984, and his 1997 work on Hermitian connections and Dirac operators.
