Michel Weber, a philosopher based in Brussels, emerged as a central architect of international scholarly networks dedicated to the revival and analysis of process philosophy. Since his doctoral studies in the late 1990s, he has shifted the focus of this academic field, aiming to reconnect contemporary discourse with its ancient, metaphysical roots through organized global research projects.
Academic Formation
Born in 1963 in Brussels, Weber completed his initial degree in commercial engineering at Saint-Louis University in 1986. He transitioned to philosophy at UCLouvain, earning his license in 1991 and his doctorate in 1997. During his studies, he investigated teleological concepts while working under Jean Ladrière. He later spent time as a visiting scholar at the Claremont School of Theology in California, where he engaged with the work of John B. Cobb Jr. and David Ray Griffin. His doctoral dissertation analyzed the heuristics of pan-creativism within the Harvard-era work of Alfred North Whitehead.

Weber established several organizations to consolidate research on process philosophy. In 2000, he launched Chromatiques whiteheadiennes and the Whitehead Psychology Nexus alongside collaborators including François Beets and Paul Gochet. The following year, he co-founded the European William James Project. By 2006, he formalized these efforts through a non-profit center in Brussels, which later facilitated the launch of the scholarly imprint Les Éditions Chromatika. This institution also hosts Belgium's first philosophical counseling service, applying the principles of his research to personal and social practice.
Editorial and Research Scope
Beyond his organizational work, Weber has maintained a consistent editorial presence. He serves as the Editorial Director for the Ontos Verlag series Chromatiques whiteheadiennes and co-directs the Process Thought series with figures such as Nicholas Rescher and Johanna Seibt. Since 2005, he has co-edited the annual publication Chromatikon. His intellectual agenda contends that modern philosophy has strayed from its Socratic and pre-Socratic obligations to understand the cosmos, proposing that process philosophy offers the necessary framework to rectify this disconnection.
