Mehdi Abeid

Early Career and Move to England

Abeid spent eight years within the RC Lens academy before departing for Newcastle United. His competitive debut for the English club occurred during the 2011–12 Football League Cup against Nottingham Forest.

Tenure in Greece

In 2013, Abeid moved to Panathinaikos on a one-year loan deal. During this period, he contributed seven goals and five assists across 28 appearances. He helped the club secure third place in the league and finish as winners of the 2013–14 Greek Cup. Following a brief return to Newcastle United, he rejoined the Greek team permanently on 18 August 2015 for an undisclosed fee.

Continental and International Movements

Abeid moved to Dijon FCO on a three-season contract starting 30 August 2016. By July 2019, he had transferred to FC Nantes. Further assignments included a move to Al-Nasr in late January 2021, a contract with İstanbul Başakşehir on 10 July 2023, and a transition to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Raed on 25 August 2024.

International Representation

Abeid represented the France national under-17 team at the 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Championship. He subsequently transitioned to the Algerian national setup, debuting for the under-23 team in 2011. He made his senior international debut in June 2015 during a qualifier against Seychelles and was part of the squad that won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
