His over-the-board achievements include a fourth-place finish at the 1990 Open Canadian Chess Championship in Edmundston and a similar result at the 1997 Novotel Open held in Genova, Italy. He also secured the best-player prize for those without an Elo number during the 1987 Chess for Peace event in London.
