Transition to Turkish Football

In July 2018, Hosseini signed a three-year contract with Trabzonspor, inheriting the number 5 shirt he previously wore in Tehran. His time in Turkey included winning both the Turkish Cup in 2020 and the Turkish Super Cup that same year. By July 2021, he moved to the Süper Lig side Kayserispor, where he continued his professional career as a central defender.

International Representation

His full international debut for Iran occurred against Uzbekistan on 19 May 2018. Shortly thereafter, he was selected for the 2018 FIFA World Cup squad in Russia. Following an injury to teammate Rouzbeh Cheshmi, Hosseini played the full duration of matches against Spain and Portugal. He subsequently participated in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where a collision with teammate Alireza Beiranvand resulted in a broken nose for the goalkeeper during a match against England.

Public Advocacy

Hosseini has utilized his platform to address domestic political issues within Iran. He voiced support for fellow footballer Amir Reza Nasr Azadani regarding his involvement in the Mahsa Amini protests. On 13 January 2026, he issued a public critique of the Iranian government's management of internet services and alleged human rights concerns, linking these actions to historical patterns of state response.
