Early Training and Career Beginnings
Born in Oslo on 6 February 1874, Lykseth-Skogman received initial vocal instruction at the Christiania Conservatory under Ida Basilier-Magelssen. She relocated to Stockholm in 1894 to continue her education at the Royal College of Music, studying with John Forsell. Her professional career gained momentum following a 1898 concert appearance, which led to a tour across Sweden with Oscar Lomberg's opera company.

Upon joining the Royal Swedish Opera in 1901, she performed Marguerite in Gounod's Faust. She gained significant recognition for her interpretations of complex operatic characters, specifically within the works of the composer who created Siegfried and Götterdämmerung. She performed the Swedish premieres of Brünnhilde in Siegfried in 1905 and Götterdämmerung in 1907. Her 1909 performance in the title role of Tristan und Isolde solidified her standing within the company.
Performance Range and Public Recognition
Beyond her Wagnerian work, her versatility allowed her to portray the Countess in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Micaela in Bizet's Carmen, and Leonora in Beethoven's Fidelio. She also performed at the National Theatre in Oslo, debuting local productions of Puccini's Tosca in 1908 and Verdi's Aida in 1909. Her contributions to the arts were formally acknowledged in 1907 with the Litteris et Artibus medal, followed by her induction into the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in 1912. She passed away in Danderyd Municipality on 13 November 1949.
