Artistic Development
Formal art training for Botha occurred through courses at the Tygerberg Art Centre. Following high school, he transitioned into a full-time painter, producing commissioned works. His initial solo exhibition, titled Liquid Sword; I am HipHop, opened in January 2007 at the Rust-en-Vrede gallery in Durbanville. This collection examined hip-hop culture. In March 2009, he presented a second solo show focused on his personal experiences. He later collaborated with photographer Gordon Clark on an exhibit titled Who Am I? Transgressions, which premiered in January 2010 at the João Ferreira Gallery in Cape Town.

Beyond visual arts, Botha gained recognition as a disc jockey and turntablist under the moniker DJ Solarize. His musical career intersected with the rise of the South African hip-hop group Die Antwoord, as he appeared in their music video for the track Enter the Ninja alongside Watkin Tudor Jones, known as Ninja. His public creative life provided a platform for him to discuss his identity, often emphasizing his spiritual nature and existence as a human being inhabiting a body affected by a specific medical condition.
Medical History and Legacy
Botha managed significant health complications resulting from progeria-related atherosclerosis, necessitating heart bypass surgery in 2005. In November 2010, he suffered a stroke. He died in Cape Town on 5 June 2011, just one day after his 26th birthday. His life served as the inspiration for the one-act opera titled Solarize, composed by Marcin Stańczyk with a libretto by Andrzej Szpindler. The production made its debut in April 2014 at the Teatr Wielki, the Polish National Opera, in Warsaw.
