In 1999, Heigl secured the role of Isabel Evans in the science fiction drama Roswell, which ran until 2002. Her career reached a new stage in 2005 when she was cast as Dr. Izzie Stevens on the medical drama Grey's Anatomy. This role earned her significant professional recognition, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2007.
