Early Career and Parliamentary Rise
Born in Lapua in 1975, Urpilainen completed a Master’s of Education at the University of Jyväskylä in 2002 before working as a teacher. Her entry into national politics followed service as president of the Young European Federalists of Finland. Elected to the Parliament of Finland in 2003, she represented the Vaasa constituency and served on the Committee on Education and Culture.
