After her film debut in 1999’s White Valentine, she reached widespread success with the 2001 romantic comedy My Sassy Girl. The film became the highest-grossing Korean comedy of its time, securing her a Grand Bell Award for Best Actress and establishing her reputation as a major box office draw. She followed this with roles in Il Mare, Windstruck, and the 2003 psychological thriller The Uninvited.
