There, he performed duties as a conductor, organist, and trumpeter, functioning within the alta cappella tradition. Marriages and Personal Legacy
Ambrosius married Maria Elisabeth Lämmerhirt on 1 April 1668. The couple had eight children, among them the composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Following the death and burial of Maria Elisabeth on 3 May 1694, Ambrosius entered a second marriage with Barbara Margaretha, née Keul, on 27 November 1694. This union was short-lived, as Ambrosius died in Eisenach less than three months after the wedding, in February 1695. Following his passing, his younger sons Johann Jacob and Johann Sebastian relocated to the home of their elder brother, Johann Christoph Bach.
