Formative Training and Education
Born in the Geumjeong District of Busan in 1995, Jimin pursued extensive dance training during his youth, attending the Just Dance Academy to master popping and locking. He later specialized in contemporary dance at the Busan High School of Arts, demonstrating high proficiency in his field. Following a successful audition for Big Hit Entertainment in 2012, he relocated to Seoul to complete his secondary education at Korean Arts High School. His early contributions included solo tracks such as the 2016 song "Lie," noted for its dramatic tone, and "Serendipity" in 2017. By 2020, his track "Filter" achieved significant streaming success, becoming the fastest Korean solo song on Spotify to surpass historical benchmarks. His work with the group has consistently bridged domestic popularity with international digital consumption.
Solo Milestones and Global Impact
The release of his 2023 debut solo album, Face, established Jimin as a significant force in Western markets, reaching number two on the US Billboard 200 and achieving the top position in South Korea and Japan.
