Academic Formation
Fintzen attended Elsensee-Gymnasium before pursuing higher education at Constructor University Bremen, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2011. She later transitioned to Harvard University for graduate studies, completing her Ph.D. in 2016. Her doctoral thesis, which focused on Moy–Prasad filtration, was written under the supervision of Benedict Gross.

Postdoctoral research led Fintzen to the Institute for Advanced Study, the University of Michigan, and Trinity College, Cambridge. Her tenure as an assistant professor began at Duke University, where she attained the rank of full professor in 2022. Simultaneously, she has served as a Lecturer at the University of Cambridge and held the position of Royal Society University Research Fellow starting in 2020. She moved to her current professorship at the University of Bonn in 2022.
Early Mathematical Recognition
Her international exposure began during her youth when she competed in the 2008 International Mathematical Olympiad, representing Germany and securing a bronze medal. Professional recognition for her later work intensified in 2018 when she received both the Friedrich Hirzebruch Dissertation prize and the Association for Women in Mathematics Dissertation Prize.
