Jérôme d'Ambrosio first entered the Formula One grid as a full-time driver in 2011, piloting the Virgin MVR-02 after emerging through a rigorous junior career. Early Career and Karting
Born in 1985 in Etterbeek, d'Ambrosio commenced karting in 1999. By 2002, he attained status as a three-time Belgian champion, winning titles in the Mini, Junior, and Formula A classes. His early success included victories at the Junior Monaco Kart Cup and the 2002 World Cup Formula A championship, establishing a foundation for his transition into car racing.

In 2003, d'Ambrosio began his single-seater tenure by winning the Belgian Formula Renault championship with Thierry Boutsen Racing. He joined the Renault F1 Driver Development Programme in 2004, finishing as the top rookie in the French Formula Renault 2.0 series. By 2007, he competed in the inaugural International Formula Master series with Cram Competition, winning the title with five victories and eleven podiums in sixteen races.
Formula One Tenure
D'Ambrosio made his Formula One debut in 2011 with Virgin Racing. His best results that season were two 14th-place finishes in Australia and Canada. After his stint with Virgin, he transitioned to Lotus F1 in 2012 as a reserve driver. He made a one-off race appearance for Lotus at the 2012 Italian Grand Prix, qualifying 16th and finishing the race in 13th position.
Formula E and Management
From 2014 to 2020, d'Ambrosio competed in Formula E for Dragon Racing and Mahindra Racing, securing wins in Berlin, Mexico City, and Marrakesh. Following his driving career, he moved into team management, serving as Team Principal for Venturi Racing. In 2024, he returned to Formula One as the deputy team principal of Ferrari and head of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
