Janel Parrish launched her performance career at nine years old after attending a production of The Phantom of the Opera in Honolulu. Parrish began as Young Cosette in the national tour and Broadway production of Les Misérables. Her early credits include the 1999 NBC series Baywatch and the 2000 Disney television film Geppetto.
