Early Development and Education
Born in Prague in 1963, Jan Pinkava later relocated to Britain where he attended Colchester Royal Grammar School. Pinkava joined Pixar in 1993 after working in London with Digital Pictures. While at the studio, he directed Geri's Game and initiated the development of the 2007 feature film Ratatouille. Although he was replaced as the film's main director during production, Pinkava retained co-director and story credits. The project received five Academy Award nominations, including a nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
