James Barry Munnik Hertzog

Boer general (1866-1942)

James Barry Munnik Hertzog (1866–1942) was a South African politician and military officer. Hertzog was born in Wellington on 3 April 1866. He died in Pretoria on 21 November 1942, at the age of 76.

Hertzog held office as Prime Minister of South Africa (1924–1939).

Hertzog was educated at University of Amsterdam, Stellenbosch University and Paul Roos Gymnasium.

Hertzog had one recorded child, Albert Hertzog. He is recorded as following Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk.
