His stage career featured over 6,000 concerts, highlighted by an intensive two-year engagement at the Théâtre Marigny in Paris. During this time, he portrayed the character of Tevye in the production of Fiddler on the Roof. His musical ability extended beyond vocal performance, as he was capable of playing the keyboard and the violin. He also demonstrated proficiency in German, Russian, French, Italian, English, and Greek.
International Recognition and Final Years
As an artist, Rebroff defined himself as a connection between Eastern and Western musical influences. He was designated an honorary citizen of the Greek island of Skopelos, where he maintained his primary residence. In his later years, he continued an active touring schedule, notably performing 13 concerts over a 21-day period in Australia while in his seventies. He received the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his contributions. Following a period of illness, he died in Frankfurt on 27 February 2008 at the age of 76.
