His tenure in the Premier League was brief, yielding one league goal against Liverpool. He subsequently returned to Porto in 2004, later experiencing spells at Saint-Étienne and Panathinaikos on loan, before transferring to Sporting CP in 2008 for €2.5 million.
Spanish League Tenures
In 2011, he joined Real Zaragoza, finishing as the club's top scorer that season with a career-best 14 goals during the following campaign. Following Zaragoza's relegation, he signed with Valencia in 2013. His time in Spain included a loan to Lazio in 2014 and a final top-division appearance for Deportivo, where he struggled with injuries.
Global Later Years
In 2015, he signed with Atlético de Kolkata as a marquee player, scoring twice in his debut before an injury limited his participation.
