Early Career and Automotive Design
Dallara graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan with a degree in aeronautical engineering. During this period, he collaborated with Bob Wallace to engineer the chassis for the Miura and the Espada models.

In 1969, Dallara began designing racing cars for Frank Williams. That same year, he co-founded the Autodromo Riccardo Paletti in Varano. He established his own firm, Dallara Automobili, in 1972. The company soon secured contracts for Formula One chassis development, including the Iso-Marlboro IR for the Williams team. Further efforts included successful designs for Formula 3 competitions, yielding victories across Europe, Russia, Japan, and the United States.
Expansion into IndyCar and Formula One
The company entered the IndyCar circuit in 1997, accumulating victories through 2003 and becoming the sole chassis supplier for the series in 2007. His work in Formula One included a cancelled project for Honda in 1998 and later collaborations with Midland and the Hispania team, the latter originally known as Campos Grand Prix. Additionally, he participated in the Le Mans series project for the team Oreca starting in 2000.
Investments and Recognition
Beyond automotive engineering, Dallara diversified his interests by investing in the football club Parma Calcio 1913 in 2015, working alongside Mauro Del Rio and Guido Barilla. His professional contributions have been recognized by the Italian state with two major awards. He was named a Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2013, followed by the Order of Merit for Labour in 2016.
